Take a look at the running foot wear you are wearing now. Did you buy them because they were the most expensive? Or were they the coolest new brand and make you look great?
When was the last time you bought a new pair? And if you are about to buy a new pair, how and why would you know which type to buy? The simple answer is, the pair that fits the best!
I do an awful lot of running, especially first thing in the morning as I said here in this post. Making sure the shoe fits perfectly and provides the support your feet require is a must. Never mind how great they look, will they do the job you are purchasing them for?
Whether you are an occasional runner, a professional, a cross trainer runner or using them in the gym, the right fit for the right occasion is a must to avoid foot problems.
Remember, there should be no “breaking in” the shoes, if they are uncomfortable from the start, they simply do not fit you properly then.
Most Foot Problems Can Be Caused By Poorly Fitted Shoes
Before you buy a new pair of running shoe to improve your fitness, know your Foot Type. Go to a store or specialist and get measurements. Staff should be able to point you in the right direction and tell you your exact fit and type of foot, this will be very helpful especially if you buy your shoes of the Internet and don’t end up wasting money.
A lot of problems like aches in the feet, knees, ankles, lower back, even your shoulders, all can come from the improper care of the feet. This can be caused by the style and fit of the shoe, hence the importance of a proper fit. I have written a post on 10 ways to takecare of your feet here.
Get your feet in balance by having a supportive shoe with a proper insert, placing your feet into a neutral position, which shall properly align the joints, and get you on the right track.
Having an old or improper running shoe can lead to many foot problems later in life. And at some stage you could develop conditions like corns, calluses and bunions or even swollen feet ouch!
